Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD is a disorder frequently found with mostly young male kids and is defined as developmentally unsuitable lack of concentration, agitation, and impulsivity. These characteristics may be present with or without hyperactivity. Many children are mistakenly diagnosed as having ADHD due to periodic hyperactivity and are prematurely prescribed Ritalin in hopes of controlling the hyperactivity. Unfortunately, there are many conditional side effects linked to Ritalin including:

• Sleep disturbances
• Depression and pain
• Headache
• Stomach pain
• Appetite inhibition
• elevated blood pressure
• Slowing of growth

The cause of ADHD is currently unknown but a group of scientific researchers has theorized that this disorder may be caused by or exacerbated by vertebral fixations and misalignments which can cause autonomic nervous system hyperactivity. The researchers conducted a small study and discovered that chiropractic treatments may benefit children with disorders of hyperactivity.
